To simplify things for the judges we could also limit the number of counters in the original board game. 150?

Personal view would be not to restrict entries in this way. The proposed optional Monster Category gives additional chances to those wanting to create large games.
There are many games out there with more than 150 cvounters that do not qualify as monster. Why would we want to refuse these?

Actually, don't even the smaller games include as many as 200 counters to the mix for a 2 hour game? 150 would be a pretty smallish game, no?
